I know Mark from his time as a graphic designer at City college, so I was pleased when he and Sarah asked me to be their wedding photographer earlier this year. The couple chose Old Market in Hove as their venue for the ceremony, reception and wedding breakfast. Staying at one place for the whole event saves a lot of running around through the day and makes life much easier for guests who have come a long way (and for photographers with lots of bags).
Mark and Sarah had plenty of guests and the Old Market was ideal for this, easily seating over a hundred people. The whole place was nicely set out and organised, both for the ceremony and the wedding breakfast later in the day. From a photographers point of view it’s a bit tricky, as it has absolutely no windows or natural light. Luckily the registrar was very accommodating and allowed me to use flash throughout the ceremony, so we did get some pictures. Photographs of the reception were much easier in the attractive courtyard at the back. I also had a chance to take a quick walk to the Brighton seafront with the bride and groom and get a few shots with the West Pier in the background.
Congratulations to a lovely couple, hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon in Mexico.
