Rachael and Ross in the rose garden at Pangdean Barns
Here are some photos from Rachael and Ross’s wedding last week, with the ceremony at Brighton’s Royal Pavilion and the wedding reception at Pangdean Old Barn in Pyecombe.
The couple booked me as their wedding photographer after finding my website from their home in Paris. I take quite a few bookings this way nowadays, from couples living abroad choosing to return home to be with friends and family for their wedding day. It means I can’t always meet clients before the booking is made, but there is usually a chance to see each other at at some point, even if it’s the day before the wedding. In this case we met about a month ago and had plenty of time to go through the details of the day together.
Rachael and Ross had organised a very full day, starting with Rachael and her bridesmaids getting ready at The Metropole Hotel on the seafront. Rachael’s sister Sophie had laid on a surprise wedding car for the trip to the Pavilion, so Rachael and her father arrived in style in an open topped Beauford. The ceremony took place in The Red Drawing Room. With it’s spectacular decoration it’s one of my favourite venues in Brighton, it has a nice atmosphere and is just the right size for an intimate wedding. We were also allowed to take some photos in The Music Room after the ceremony.
We squeezed in a trip to the seafront in the Beauford before setting off to the reception. I was wondering how to get the car and the sea in the same shot, but the driver solved the problem by reversing up on to the esplanade, without running anybody over, and getting the pier in the background. A quick five minutes later we returned to the Corn Exchange to catch the Big Lemon bus out to Pangdean
Pangdean Old Barn is just outside Brighton and one of the area’s most popular wedding venues. The gardens have been improved since I last worked here, and were looking great with all the flowers in early summer bloom. I chose the shade of the rose garden for some of the main photos of the bride and groom.
The guests had great weather for the reception and everybody seemed to be having a lovely time outside, before going into the main barn for the wedding breakfast. We had arrived a bit late, but Pangdean always seems very well organised and they managed to re-schedule the whole afternoon so nothing was rushed. Thanks to Michael, who looked after me and even found me some sellotape when I knocked a piece off one of my cameras.
